Hamilton’s bottled tap water wins award
HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) – The City of Hamilton’s municipal water, bottled for sale, was named the fifth best Purified Drinking Water at the Berkeley Springs 2012 International Water Tasting late last month.
Ironically, the reason Hamilton’s water was being bottled in the first place was it was named the Best Tap Water in the world last year. This year’s winner in the Municipal Water category Greenwood, British Columbia, Canada and the U.S. winner is St. Henry, OH, a village of 2500 people in Mercer County northwest of Dayton.
Hamilton also won as Best Tap Water in the U.S. in 2009. Its water has been sold under the Sustain World’s Best Water brand in the Cincinnati region, but is sold in other places by the City of Hmailton as "Hamilton on Tap", which is the name under which it won the award.
The gold winner in the Purified Drink Water category this year is Baie, Oak Creek, WI, which also won in 2001 and 2006.
