Hamilton’s bottled tap water wins award

 

HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) – The City of Hamilton’s municipal water, bottled for sale, was named the fifth best Purified Drinking Water at the Berkeley Springs 2012 International Water Tasting late last month.

Ironically, the reason Hamilton’s water was being bottled in the first place was it was named the Best Tap Water in the world last year.  This year’s winner in the Municipal Water category Greenwood, British Columbia, Canada and the U.S. winner is St. Henry, OH, a village of 2500 people in Mercer County northwest of Dayton.

Hamilton also won as Best Tap Water in the U.S. in 2009.  Its water has been sold under the Sustain World’s Best Water brand in the Cincinnati region, but is sold in other places by the City of Hmailton as "Hamilton on Tap", which is the name under which it won the award.

The gold winner in the Purified Drink Water category this year is Baie, Oak Creek, WI, which also won in 2001 and 2006.

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - The Cincinnati/Dayton Division of Kroger will present the proceeds from the 2011 Third Quarter Coinbox Program collections on Thursday, February 2nd at 10:00 a.m. 

In the Third Quarter of each year, each of the seven districts chooses organizations who serve the surrounding area to benefit from Coinbox collections.  Kroger’s Corporate Office makes the determination for the other 3 quarters. .

“The Kroger Co believes in the importance of supporting the organizations that are located in the communities where our associates live and our stores operate,” said Sukanya Madlinger, President of Kroger’s Cincinnati/Dayton Division.

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - The Banks master development team of Carter and The Dawson Company and equity partner USAA announced Wednesday that The Wine Guy Wine Shop & Bistro will locate at The Banks. 

The Wine Guy, Craig Decker, will expand his hugely popular wine bar and shop concept into a 6,416 square-foot space located on the South side of Freedom Way.  Voted the Best New Restaurant and the Best Wine Shop by several Columbus magazines, The Wine Guy will now offer its entertaining and educational wine experience to patrons of The Banks.  This includes the ability to sample wines while browsing the shop’s selections and nibbling on tapas from the Bistro. 

Decker describes the concept as “Old World Chic.”  “We provide a comfortable setting where you can eat, drink, learn and take something home.  Our expert staff can assist you in your wine selections.

HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) - Bath & Body Works employees from the Cincinnati area collected names of clients and their kids from Sojourner Recovery Services and adopted them for the holidays. 

Spearheaded by Gina Lantman, Store Manager of Bath & Body Works in the Waterstone Boulevard location in Deerfield Township, the stores collected hundreds of gifts.  The gifts were collected from seven area stores and delivered today to the single mothers and their kids. 

“Bath & Body Works was incorporated around the idea of women helping women.  This is an expression of that philosophy in the community,” stated Ms.

MONROE, OH (FOX19) - 'Tis the season for lower gas prices, at least compared to earlier in the year, around Butler and Warren Counties.

Cincygasprices.com reports prices have dipped to as low as $2.89 (plus the extra 9) for regular gas at a couple places on Routes 22/3 in Deerfield Township.  Prices were 2.99 at most stations around Mason, a common price in competitive locations all over the Tri-State.

Gas was slightly over $3.00 on 48 near 22/3 south of South Lebanon, but about 20 cents more in South Lebanon itself and at 3.09 in Maineville; it was also $3.09 in Lebanon.

Gas was at 2.99 or 2.98 both along and away from the highway in Springboro, Franklin, and Monroe.

FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, BUTLER COUNTY (FOX19) - Bridgewater Falls has partnered with Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati to host a Community Blood Drive on Saturday, December 24, 2011 from 9:00am to 3:00pm.  The Hoxworth Donor Bus will be parked at Best Buy located at 3435 Princeton Rd. Each donor will receive a Hoxworth fleece blanket and be automatically registered for a chance to win a “Kindle Fire”
