Pajama Day at Fairfield East Elementary School honors memory of fellow student

FAIRFIELD, OH (FOX19) - Students at Fairfield East Elementary School are honoring the memory of a student who lost her battle with brain cancer this year.

Sarah Nelson  passed away in March from brain cancer. This past February, Sarah decided to go to North Elementary principal Mrs. Stacy, and propose a fundraising event for DIPG.

The event would allow students to wear pajamas to school for a donation of one dollar. During that first Pajama Day, FFN students and staff raised over $700.00.

May happens to be not only Brain Tumor Awareness month but Sarah’s birthday month as well.

A fellow 3rd grade student had the idea to honor Sarah on her birthday, May 10th, and support another Pajama Day at the school.
