Little Miami Women's Chorale wins WCG silver medal
News

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19)- On Saturday, July 7, the Little Miami Women's Chorale was awarded the Silver Medal in the Champions Division of Youth Choirs for Equal Voices in the 2012 World Choir Games.

The Chorale placed 7th in the world and was only two points away from receiving a gold medal.

Their winning performance included Exultate, Justi, in Domino (by Dutch Renaissance composer, Herman Hollanders), Tundra (by Norwegian composer, Ola Gjeilo), Prayer (by American composer, Whitney Berry), and The Tree of Peace (by American composer, Gwyneth Walker).

"I am so proud of this amazing accomplishment.  To be placed in such high regard among choral groups that are corporate or government funded is nothing short of a miracle.  We have worked incredibly hard to earn this distinction, not only through beautiful singing, but also in independently raising our funds in order to compete at the international level."

The Little Miami Women's Chorale also served as the demonstration choir for a World Choir Games workshop entitled, "West Meets East: The Music of Singapore," directed by renowned director and international judge, Jennifer Tham.  The chorale's director, Sarah J. Baker, also served as the accompanist for the event.

The appearance in the Champions Division of the 2012 World Choir Games has now placed the Little Miami Women's Chorale in contention for the next World Choir Games, which will be held in 2014 in Riga, Latvia.
