HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) - A Butler County fire chief terminated after 25 years is dismissing his appeal of the decision that riled supporters so much that extra police were called in to a public meeting.
The notice filed on behalf of former Fairfield Twp. fire chief David Downie didn't explain his reasoning for dismissing the appeal.
Township Administrator Michael Rahall tells The JournalNews of Hamilton an attorney is reviewing how that legally affects the township.
Downie described his termination in May as trustees' effort to take out a strong leader they can't control. Among other things, Downie was accused of insubordination after heated verbal outbursts with two township officials.
