Use mouse to help homeless Middletown cats

Paws Adoption Center in Middletown needs your help! Purina Cat Chow “50 years. 50 Shelters” program is geared up to contribute up to $225,000 in product and monetary donations to 50 cat shelters nationwide.

Paws Adoption Center is the only Ohio Shelter in the program. The shelter has received $2,000 dollars from Purina Cat Chow: $1000 in cash donation and $1000 in custom care package of products such as food, litter, toys and more.

As of today, the shelter is now eligible to obtain another donation up to $1000. For every vote cast, Purina Cat Chow will donate $1 up to $1000 until June 14th or until 25,000 votes are casts.

Oxford musicians 5th annual OCAC benefit holiday concert

OXFORD, OH (FOX19) - Lisa Biales once again brings together the joyful sounds of the season with the 5th Annual Oxford Musicians Holiday Concert to benefit the Oxford Community Arts Center (OCAC). This year’s concert, hosted by Biales, will unite of all your favorite local musicians in the OCAC Ballroom, Friday, December 7th, 2012 at 8pm. The cost is $10 at the door and is part of the 2012 Potluck Series. Doors open at 7pm for the potluck; bring a dish to share, and BYOB.

Second Friday brings fantastic terrors to the Oxford Community Arts Center

OXFROD, OH (FOX19)  - Alysia Fischer and Kate Currie have created all new work for their exhibition, Fantastic Terrors, which opens with a reception at the Oxford Community Arts Center on Second Friday, October  12th at 6 pm.  This seasonal exhibit was inspired by the life and work of Edgar Allen Poe and the theme serves well as a juncture for Fischer and Currie’s two very different styles of work.  Fischer transforms discarded inner tubes into sculptural forms, while Currie combines woodworking and drawing into engaging kinetic objects.

Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park's Accidental Friends plays at Oxford Community Arts Center

OXFORD, OH (FOX19)  – Lessons about true friendship are explored in the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park’s Off the Hill production of ACCIDENTAL FRIENDS, by playwright Y York. It will be performed at the Oxford Community Arts Center on October 5th at 7 pm.   This show is FREE, open to the public, and suitable for all ages.

ACCIDENTAL FRIENDS tells the story of Jonathan, who loves sports and hanging out with his close circle of friends. When he is sidelined by an injury that leaves him temporarily blinded, the only classmate brave enough to visit him in the hospital is Hilda, a quirky loner. Her amusing letters and relentless encouragement help him heal, while teaching him valuable lessons about the importance of looking beyond appearances. When Jonathan returns to school and turns his back on Hilda, they both learn about true friendship in this funny and moving play.

Book Reading And Signing By Local Author Laura Huber Featured At Ocac’s Second Friday

OXFORD, OH (FOX19)  - Local resident and author Laura Huber will be reading excerpts from her latest books, The ABC's of Homeschooling and The Life Planner - Discovering Yourself and Achieving Your Goals  at the Oxford Community Arts Center Second Friday event on March 9th at 7:00 pm.  The reading will be followed by a brief discussion and book signing concluding by 7:50.

Laura Huber has lived on the outskirts of Brookville, Indiana,  in a tiny little town called St. Mary's of the Rock, her entire life.  She has been married for 19 years and has three children, whom she has homeschooled over the last thirteen years.  Huber’s work been published in Home Education Magazine, among other places.

OXFORD, OH (FOX19) - Local resident, 3-time award winning author, licensed Medical Massage Therapist, and self-care expert Gini Maddocks, will present excerpts from her book, "Rescue and Relief for Computer Users," at the Oxford Community Arts Center's Second Friday event on February 10, 2012, at 7 pm. Similar to Maddocks' blog, the reading will highlight ways to replace dysfunctional thoughts and habits with fresh perspective and insight. The reading will be followed by a brief discussion and book signing.

Madcap Puppets’ "WHEN YOU WISH UPON A FISH" performs at the Oxford Community Arts Center

OXFORD, OH (FOX19) - MadCap Puppets' production of WHEN YOU WISH UPON A FISH will perform at the Oxford Community Arts Center. The show is free and open to the public, and will take place on Monday, February 6 at 6:30 pm.

The famous Grimm brothers take the stage in one of the most popular Madcap shows of all time! The brothers have three completely different versions of "The Fisherman and His Wife" and can't decide which fishy fairy tale to choose for their book. Each outrageous version includes audience participation, a magical talking fish and a surprise ending. Don't miss this hilarious slapstick adventure!
