Annual Flying Circus Model Airshow returning to Hamilton

HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) - The Greater Cincinnati Radio Control Club (GCRCC) is a group of model airplane enthusiasts who put on a radio control model air show every summer called The Flying Circus. This year will be 'The 51st Annual Flying Circus' and will cover two days and feature over 200 model aircraft of all kinds, from helicopters to jets, to a rocket powered Space Shuttle. The show is August 6-7 at 11:30am-4pm each day.

At the show we demonstrate all of our various forms of R/C modeling in ways that challenge our pilots and provide entertainment for the folks watching. It is a great family event that has become a Greater Cincinnati tradition.

Parking at the Butler County Regional Airport is $5.00 for one person, two or more people $10.00. Admission, is free and there are plenty of refreshments available.

OXFORD, OH (FOX19) - In conjunction with the Oxford Community Art Center’s (OCAC) show “Small Art, Big Impact--Artist Trading Cards” opening Friday, August 12th from 6 to 10 p.m., an artist trading card workshop “Making Small Art” is being offered on Saturday, August 13th from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Celebrate Community Arts Centers Day with the Oxford Community Arts Center’s Art Parade On August 28

OXFORD, OH (FOX19) – Oxford Community Arts Center will celebrate Community Arts Center Day on August 28th at 1 pm in Memorial Park  with an Art Parade and fun art costume making workshops.  The Art Parade begins at 2:30 pm; winding around the park and then west on High Street to College Avenue and the Community Arts Center where it will culminate with entertainment and a free ice cream social, generously sponsored by United Dairy Farmers.  The parade and workshops will feature original art works created by Jim Crosser, Diane Stemper and local community members. 

Now in its third year, Community Arts Centers Day, an annual celebration of community arts centers throughout the greater Cincinnati region, brings people together with fun and free arts activities in their local neighborhoods.

OXFORD, OH (FOX19) - Second Friday returns to the Oxford Community Arts Center on August 12 with a Family Affair.  This event will feature pianist, Randy Runyon and an exhibit entitled “Sisters: The Road to Home” by siblings Elizabeth Smart Runyon and Catherine Smart Wells.  Additionally the exhibit, “Small Art, Big Impact—Artist Trading Cards” will open in the South Parlor and selected 3rd floor studios will be open for your enjoyment.  

Pianist, Randy Runyon is the featured musician while the Gallery will be filled with artwork created by his wife and her sister, Catherine Smart Wells and Elizabeth Smart Runyon. 

Randy Runyon was a part of OCAC’s “Play Me, I’m Yours” piano project.

HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) - The 161st Butler County Fair began Sunday and lasts through Saturday night, July 30 at the Hamilton fairgrounds.

The classic county fair entertainment will be represented with the horse, hog and sheep barns, amusement rides and food booths, the big draw of this fair will be the popular demolition derbies.

The two demolition derbies will be held at 7 p.m. Monday night and Friday night at the grandstand.

OXFORD, OH (FOX19) - The Oxford Community Arts Center has become known as a place for the Oxford community to enjoy music, theater, family performances and to partake in a variety of arts classes for all ages. For the past three years, the Oxford Community Arts Center has provided an After School Arts program for elementary school children in the Talawanda District.  The After School Art program gives Talawanda School District students the opportunity to enhance and deepen their involvement in and knowledge of the visual arts.

Once a week for nine weeks children come to the Oxford Community Arts Center to create art, use their imaginations, learn about art themes and tools, view works of art and talk with professional artists. This upcoming fall, younger and older elementary students will draw, paint, and enjoy a visit from a professional watercolor artist, Jim Tingey.
