OXFORD, OH (FOX19) - Three months worth of muscle-building weight room work and lung-expanding distance running should yield major conditioning dividends for Coach Michael Haywood's Miami University football team today when they officially begins on-field preparations for the 2010 season.

A RedHawk roster stocked with 49 returning letter winners, 11 talented redshirt freshmen, six battle-tested transfers and 19 eager true freshmen is anxious to erase memories of last year's forgettable 1-11 record.

Haywood invites all interested RedHawk fans to watch his troops work out at Yager Stadium and the adjacent practice fields to the north and west of Yager. Fans are asked not to bring cameras when they attend Miami's practice sessions.

"I believe we've taken great strides in improving our overall team strength and speed, and we think that we've got several exciting play-makers," said Haywood. "Our coaching staff can't wait to get started on August 7th."

Aug. 7 (Sat.) - Veterans practice (8:30 a.m.); freshman practice (4:15 p.m.)

Aug. 8 (Sun.) - Veterans (8:30 a.m.); freshmen (4:15 p.m.)

Aug. 9 (Mon.) - Veterans (8:30 a.m.); freshmen (4:15 p.m.)

Aug. 10 (Tue.) - Entire team practice (3:15 p.m.)

Aug. 11 (Wed.) - Team practices (8:45 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.)

Aug. 12 (Thu.) - Team practice (4 p.m.)

Aug. 13 (Fri.) - Team practices (8:45 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.)

Aug. 14 (Sat.) - Scrimmage (10:25 a.m.)
