COLUMBUS, OH (FOX19) - The Ohio Department of Natural Resources' (ODNR) Division of Wildlife and the Council for Environmental Education (CEE) have awarded Lynn White, education specialist for the Butler Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), with their "Ohio Project WILD Facilitator of the Year Award." This annual award is given to a volunteer Project WILD facilitator who has contributed significantly to Ohio's Project WILD program, according to the Division of Wildlife and CEE.
White and her team have been instrumental in providing Project WILD and Growing Up WILD workshops in the Cincinnati area over the past year, training more than 100 area early childhood educators.
"She is an excellent leader and continually provides suggestions to improve the WILD program," said Jen Dennison, ODNR wildlife education coordinator. "White never hesitates to lend a helping hand."
White currently helps coordinate the Butler County Children's Water Festival, which brings in more than 1,000 student participants in grades four through six each year. The students learn about local water quality issues and water recreation. White has also developed a soils trailer with the more than $65,000 she has obtained through grants.
White is a native of Scotland. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in geography from the University of Glasgow and a Master of Arts degree in geography from Miami University of Ohio.
