Three arrested for safecracking at Rally's; police suspect them in more

MIDDLETOWN, OH (FOX19) -The Middletown Police have arrested two men from Franklin and one from Middletown for breaking into the Rally's restaurant at 2115 North Verity Parkway last month and breaking into the safe and taking the money. 

Justin Burnett, 24, 2011 Oneka Ave in Middletown, 42-year-old Steve Sexton of 921 Wilshire Drive in Franklin, 25-year-old Jeffery Smith of 229 Maxwell Street in Franklin have all been charged with Breaking and Entering and Safe Cracking. 

The Rally's break-in happened on December 13.  A release says "these individuals are also suspected of committing other crimes in the area. We are working with surrounding agencies to clear other thefts they are involved in and bring an end to their crime spree." 

Police are asking anyone with additional information about the suspects to call Detective Lovejoy at 513-425-1713.

Andre Davis sentencing delayed a second time in HIV assault cases

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - A one-time professional wrestler who was scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday on 14 counts of felonious assault will now be sentenced later in the month.

 

Sentencing for Andre Davis, 29, was originally set for Dec. 21, but continued until Jan. 3. However, it was continued again on Tuesday and rescheduled for Jan. 23 at 9 a.m.

A Hamilton County jury found Davis, 29, guilty on 14 out of 15 counts of felonious assault last month. He was accused of having sex with 12 women while knowing he was HIV positive, and not telling them, which is felonious assault under Ohio law.  Davis was found not guilty on one count.

During the trial, several women who had claimed to have had sex with Davis took the stand to testify about their relationship. Each woman denied ever being told by Davis that he had tested positive for HIV prior to engaging in a sex act.

OXFORD, OH (FOX19) - The Oxford Police say they and the Miami University Police know that burglars will take advantage of most of the students leaving town when Miami University is on winter break. 

Apparently, the burglars didn't count on the police taking advantage of the situation as well. In 6 days, police arrested 4 adults and 6 people under 18

MIDDLETOWN, OH (FOX19) - One of the suspects on Butler County's 'Top 10 Most Wanted' list has been arrested.

Reedis McCoy III, 31, was arrested Wednesday morning on Church Avenue in Middletown, where he had been staying.

The Butler County Sheriff's Office says McCoy had previously been arrested and charged for a 2009 burglary in Middletown.  After not abiding by a judge's orders in disposition of that case, a warrant for his arrest was issued back in October of 2010.  McCoy had been on the run since then, leading to his placement on the "Top Ten Most Wanted" list.

Sheriff's Deputies had recently developed information leading them to believe he was staying in Middletown.  The home on Church Avenue was placed under surveillance, and McCoy was observed outside the residence Wednesday morning.

(HAMILTON, OH) Butler County Michael T. Gmoser has announced that Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Gregory Stephens has been selected by the United States Attorney, Cincinnati office, to assist the U.S. Attorney in the following year with the prosecution of federal crimes.  

Stephen will remain an employee of the Butler County Prosecutor’s Office, but will serve under the direction of the United States Attorney in Cincinnati.  This assistance is made possible by a federal grant that will permit Gmoser to hire a new assistant prosecutor without cost to Butler County citizens.  

This is the first appointment of this type from the Butler County Prosecutor’s Office.  "I take great pride in the recognition of excellence it brings to my office and the citizens of Butler County", Gmoser said.

HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) - Many people are taking time off between now and New Year's, but the Hamilton Post of the Ohio State Patrol says their people will be keeping busy.

The Hamilton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol will be out in full force this holiday season removing dangerous and impaired drivers in an effort to reach historic lows in the number of people killed on Ohio’s roadways in 2011. Last year fatalities increased to 1,080 over a record low of 1,022 in 2009.

Hamilton Police to hold meeting in re-accreditation

HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) - The Hamilton Police Department is scheduled for a re-accreditation On-Site Assessment by an Accreditation Team from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) on January 8 - 10, 2012.

The purpose of the On-Site is to re-examine the Hamilton Police Department and our compliance to 177 professional standards of Law Enforcement.  The Hamilton Police Department obtained initial accreditation in 1990.

The assessors are the Team Leader, Chief Jay Murphy, of Cape Coral, FL, and Assessor, Commander Keith Briggs, of Elk Grove, IL.

The CALEA Accreditation program requires police agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in areas including Policy and Procedures, Organizational Management, Law Enforcement Operations and Support Services. 

As part of the On-Site Assessment, agency and community members are invited to offer comments at a public information session to be held in the Hamilton Police
