Ex-boyfriend and other man charged with burglarizing woman’s home

 

SYCAMORE TOWNSHIP, HAMILTON COUNTY, OH (FOX19) – The ex-boyfriend of a Kenwood woman and a second man have been charged with taking copper from the woman’s home - while she was there - during a daylight burglary Thursday morning.

Chief Deputy Sean Donovan of the Sheriff’s Office says 30-year-old Casey T. Turner of Liberty Township and 32-year-old Christopher A. Baker of Linwood showed up between 9 and 9:20 a.m. at the home on Kenwood Road.  Around 9:25 the woman who lived there saw a car in the driveway that didn’t belong there and called police. 

When deputies got there, they decided the pair had been removing copper pipe from the home, with some of it stacked up on the back patio.

The Sheriff’s office says Baker was arrested in the driveway with a hacksaw in his hand, while Turner ran east into the woods behind the home.

MONROE, OH (FOX19) – A Monroe Police Officer was called to City Hall Wednesday to document an incident reportedly involving raised voices and chest-poking.

Just before noon Wednesday, Police Officer Brian Curlis was dispatched to see City Manager William Brock, who wanted to report an incident around 9:30 a.m. 

Brock reported that he was speaking to Vice Mayor Robert Kelley near the James Monroe Community Room before things got out of hand. He said they were talking about city business when the conversation turned heated.  Brock said Kelley moved into his personal space and poked him in the chest with his index finger.  He said he felt physically threatened by Kelley’s actions, and told Kelley “Don’t ever touch me again.”  Brock said that Kelley then threatened his job, and the heated conversation ended soon after that.

Middletown baby's death ruled a homicide

MIDDLETOWN, OH (FOX19)-

The Butler County Coroner has ruled the death of an 11-month old girl a homicide.

Brittany Humphries died in January from cranial cerebral trauma from blunt force injury.

On January 14, The baby's mother, Courtney Olson, called 911 and said her daughter was dead and had choked on a hot dog.

Police originally said Humphries died of natural causes, after choking on food.

They have not filed any charges in the case.

Police target US 127 in two counties Friday night

 

BLUE ASH, OH (FOX19) - The Hamilton County OVI Task Force will conduct increased enforcement over this weekend, beginning Friday.

As the high school prom season gets started, the Task Force is telling teens that no one under the age of twenty-one is permitted to consume alcoholic beverages, and that the blood alcohol limit for underage drivers is .02, much lower than it is for those who are age 21 and over.

In addition, on Friday night, the Hamilton County OVI Task Force will team up with the Butler County OVI Task Force and conduct an enforcement blitz on US 127 in both counties.  US 127 is also known as Hamilton Avenue in Hamilton County and Pleasant Avenue in Butler County.   Officers of the Task Forces will target alcohol- and drug-impaired drivers. Fatalities from alcohol-impaired driving crashes continue to account for one in three deaths on American roadways each year.

Friends of Katelyn Markham hold event for her Saturday

FAIRFIELD, OH (FOX19)- The death of 15-year-old Chelsea Johnson is bringing attention to the Katelyn Markham search.

On Monday, Johnson's mother reported her high school freshmen daughter missing, hours later her body was found, stabbed to death.

Markham has been missing since August 14, 2011.

On the sixth month anniversary of her disappearance friends and family held another search, continued to pray, and still today have hope the 22-year-old is alive.

This weekend a free event will be held at Harbin Park's Overlook Shelter in Fairfield.

Flower seeds will be given out to attendees to take home and plant.

Organizers are also encouraged to bring short poems and quotes to read aloud.

Local artist Dizzy Citizen also perform at the event. There will also be complimentary refreshments.

The event starts at 4:00 p.m. 

Man arrested for stealing from storm victims

HAMILTON COUNTY, OH (FOX19)- A Butler County man has been arrested after being accused of stealing more than $43,000 from at least nine storm victims in Ohio and Kentucky.

Joshua Salyers was indicted Thursday by a Hamilton County grand jury on 10 felony counts of Engaging in a Pattern of Corrupt Activities, Theft, and Theft from the Elderly. 

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters announced  the indictments Friday.

According to investigators, Salyers, 39, ran a storm damage restoration company and allegedly took the money from homeowners in Hamilton County, Butler County, Stark County, and Campbell County, Kentucky, to repair their homes after storms.
