Fairfield City Schools Arts Fair

FAIRFIELD, OH (FOX19) - The 51st annual Fairfield City Schools Arts Fair is being held under the big top on Sunday, May 5 from 1 - 5pm.

Fairfield fine arts (art, drama and music) students hard work from this school year will be on display with performances by vocal and instrumental music groups.

The event is free and open to the public.

Summer gardeneering camp offered at the Oxford Community Arts Center

OXFORD, OH (FOX19) - The Oxford Community Arts Center (OCAC) will once again offer Gardeneering camps for children ages 6-12 in the OCAC Children’s Garden, located on the corner of South College Avenue and High Street. Camps are offered in three-week units, each unit coverer a unique theme.  The cost per each three-week unit is $35. Gardeneering camps will takes place from 9:30AM to 12:30PM on Saturday mornings May 4th, 11th, 25th, June 8th, 15th, 22nd, July 13th, 20th, 27th, and August 3rd, 10th, 24th. This year’s camps will be taught by a new instructor at the Oxford Community Arts Center - Holly Larson. Children are welcome to register for more than one unit. Space is limited to 14 campers per unit.

Oxford Community Band in Concert

OXFORD, OH (FOX19) - On Sunday, April 21st, at 1:30 p.m., the Oxford Community Arts Center will present the Oxford Community Band in concert. Robert Eckhardt, the group’s conductor, has chosen musical selections for the concert, which include:

Chelsea Suite (Thielman), Medieval Fresco (Morrissey), “Cortége and Fanfare” From Snow Maiden (Rimsky-Korsakoff), “Theme” From Midsummer Night’s Dream (Mendelssohn), “Largo” From Organ Concerto No. 7 (Handel), and Them Basses March (Huffine).

OXFORD, OH (FOX19) - The Oxford Community Arts Center presents A Night of Song Thursday, April 25th at 7:30 pm. Lisa Biales with Ricky Nye and The Paris Blues Band will perform  a concert including songs from the new CD Singing in My Soul.

Tickets can be purchased for $10, starting Monday April 8th at the office of The Oxford Community Arts Center.

Recently recorded and produced by Big Song Music, Singing in My Soul, has been called a happy toe tapping CD that swings, jumps, and keeps the listener captivated from the first tune to the last. Mark Pucci Media shares, “All I can say is hit replay.”

OXFORD, OH (FOX19) - The School of Education, Health and Society invites the public to the second annual Partnership Recognition, with a portrait unveiling and artist reception to honor these three Americans Who Tell the Truth: Elizabeth Freeman, Dolores Volk and Robert Shetterly.

A portrait of Miami University employee Dolores Volk will soon take its place among “Americans Who Tell the Truth," a series of more than 180 paintings created by Cincinnati native Robert Shetterly.

The exhibit opens with a reception on Thursday, March 28 at McGuffey Hall from 4:15pm - 5:15pm.

The portrait unveiling in scheduled between 5:15pm - 6:30pm followed by a meet and greet with artist Robert Shetterly.

The Oxford Community Arts Center announces five new adult art classes to our line up

OXFORD, OH (FOX19) - The Oxford Community Arts Center announces the addition of five new adult art classes to its already fantastic line up.

From sketching the live human form, modeling from clay, or sculpting your own creative physique - This Spring -  the Oxford Community Arts Center invites you to have an "ART OF BODY" experience by registering for one or more of our adult art classes. All classes are lead by local, professional instructors and most will begin the week of March 18th, 2013.

March Second Friday at Oxford Community Arts Center

OXFORD, OH (FOX19) -  Second Friday at the Oxford Community Arts Center (OCAC) will host an open reception for three new exhibits on March 8th, 2013, 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Woodturning Artistry , a collaborative effort of the Ohio Valley Woodturner’s Guild, See What I See -Karen Briggs Ng, and Paintings by “The Artful Dodger -Jim Horton, are the three exhibits that will open on March 8th. SECOND FRIDAY will feature musical guests Mid-Century Modern at 8pm.  A special, FREE, workshop with Sue Marvin, “Basics of Bellydancing,” will be offered at 7:00 p.m. in the North Parlor. Nancy Sturgeon will host Square Dancing at 7:30 in the Lower Level Recital Hall for a $5 donation per couple.  SECOND FRIDAY is FREE and open to the public.
